Should I feed my pet a grain free diet?

We do not recommend feeding your pets a grain-free diet.

FDA Alert (July 2018): Grain‑free dog foods—especially those heavy in peas, lentils, legumes, or potatoes—have been linked to cases of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), including in breeds not genetically prone to it.
• Around 90% of DCM cases involved grain‑free diets.
• Many of those diets listed legumes or potatoes as top ingredients.
• Nutrients like taurine were similar, but malabsorption or ingredient effects may be at play.

While the FDA hasn’t outright recommended stopping grain‑free diets, they stress: Talk to your vet (or a veterinary nutritionist) before making any diet changes. Your dog’s heart health is worth the caution.
